But AI is transforming everything about our world, and it’s important to find ways to not only incorporate AI in K-12 schools but to also ensure that students understand the role of AI and the technology behind it. In this way, students will be better prepared for 21st century careers, most of which will require some kind of AI knowledge or the capability of working in an AI-driven environment.

Introducing AI in K-12 schools requires a measured strategy that includes addressing digital safety and security, identifying student needs, and using AI to help fill gaps in the curriculum in order to nurture relevant skills. AI can also provide an avenue through which students prepare for careers in STEM-related field. Some ways generative AI can help are by acting as a virtual tutor and offering a more personalized learning experience to students. For teachers and administrators, AI can be even more useful, managing student assessments and freeing time for the educator.
