When we think of teaching writing to K-12 students, we might only think about English classes, but did you know that writing helps improve student cognition and memory – and that their writing skills impact student success in every subject?

In an article in Edutopia about why students should write across all subjects, they shared the research of Professor Steve Graham and his colleagues at Arizona State University’s Teachers College. The professor analyzed 56 studies looking at the benefits of writing in science, social studies, and math, found that “writing reliably enhanced learning across all grade levels …and that the process of writing also improves a student’s ability to recall information, make connections between different concepts, and synthesize information in new ways. In effect, writing isn’t just a tool to assess learning, it also promotes it.”

Writing also improves mental health in students.

Teaching writing, however, can be time-consuming and draining for teachers. The only way to successfully help students improve writing is to provide feedback – and providing feedback to every student can increase teacher workloads.

How Scribo Transforms Teaching Writing and Empowers Educators

Imagine a classroom where writing no longer causes anxiety in students or increases workloads for teachers! The way Scribo provides feedback, guidance, grading, and standards assessments is next level.

The biggest challenge for teachers is that teaching – and grading – writing can be time-consuming. Increasing teacher workloads is not ideal; maximizing teacher instruction time is.

It requires a lot of effort to provide the individual feedback necessary to help each student improve. And if the students are writing their assignments by hand, it can take teachers even longer to grade.

In light of these challenges, we are excited to introduce Scribo by Literatu. Scribo helps students improve their writing quickly while making it easier for teachers to monitor progress, grade assignments, and support student efforts. Scribo AI adds an additional instructor into each class.

Scribo helps improve student writing skills by providing real-time feedback, personalized insights, and actionable strategies. It helps students improve their writing proficiency while offering educators valuable data to tailor instruction. The program aligns to the Common Core State Standards in ELA. Scribo can even integrate with your rubric to help guide students as they write and make grading quicker.

Connect with Google Docs

Recently, Scribo formally released Scribo for Google Docs, the only Chrome Extension focused on improving English writing skills for all students, across all levels of learning. It’s easy to use: Just download it from the Chrome Extension store and plug it into your classroom. All you need is Google Docs. It works with Google Classroom, and the student version will be available September 2024.

Getting Started with Scribo

Scribo is offering a pilot of their full program for two weeks, fully accompanied by their Customer Success Team.
